My experience as an Editorial graphic artist at the Los Angles Times lead to illustrating, reporting, research and production of infographic art.
On deadline, I've participated in communicating information about some of the most important and dire news events, such as 9/11 and the launch of the war in Iraq.
It has been my privilege to work on a Pulitzer Prize-winning series for over a year called Altered Oceans, which has directly affected our nation's environmental policy toward the increasingly critical condition of life in the oceans of the planet. For this I received a Pulitzer crystal.
And I've been able to climb up our local mountains to observe bighorn sheep and report on their status. I happen to love hiking and backpacking, so I try to report on our local environment whenever I can.
The work you see on my site under infographics and writing is a result of my career with the Times. However, I started out by painting and drawing while majoring in Biology at Pomona College, for which I received a B.A. I continued to paint and draw long afterward and the work is available for viewing here, too. I've participated in painting classes and workshops at Otis/Parsons, UCLA, and Art Center College of Design.
